"Doug Merkey: In the Sweet Spot of His Calling. I first met Doug when I was a seasoned Board Member of The Pregnancy Resource Centers of St. Louis (now known as St. Louis “ThriVe”). Doug’s many years of experience as a Pastor-Leader, advocate for sanctity of life issues and grassroots activist for defending life, made him a perfect candidate as a Board Member of PRC. Doug’s range impressive and grace-full sanctity of life experience—in word and deed—sets him apart as one of those rare people who you can immediately see that God has Doug smack dab in the center of his 'calling sweet spot'! I have known Doug Merkey for about 3 years while he worked as the Pastor of Pro-Life at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, Missouri. During that time, Doug and I worked together on several life-related initiatives. He actively sought to include Bethany in his church's strategy to protect the unborn, inviting me to speak on several occasions. Through these invitations, several families from Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church have become licensed foster homes for Bethany and just recently a childless couple from this congregation adopted a sibling group of four children from Russia. Over the years I have come to appreciate Doug's heart for the unborn and his actions on their behalf. He has been a helpful partner with Bethany for the years I 've known him and it has been a pleasure to work with him. His passion for the unborn is genuine and evident when you meet him.

Thank you again for participating in our 2007 Annual Conference, Gateway of Hope, in St. Louis. We are grateful for all the individuals who contributed to making it a success. When we asked our attendees what was the primary draw, most said it was the content of the workshops. Indeed we were pleased (but not surprised) to see so many positive ratings and comments in the evaluations.
