The list below is a general roadmap describing the journey to building a healthy, gospel-driven Life Team. Keep in mind that every church is different, and CFL works with each individual church to refine this roadmap in ways that are fitting.
CFL's coaching is essential to ensure that this process flows smoothly. We are experts at building Life Teams! Take note that this process generally takes about one and a half years from start to finish. It is very important not to rush the process! Remember, the vision is about healthy, long-term ministry, not a one-time blip in the life of the church. To sustain that kind of ministry vision for the long haul, Teams must be built over time with solid underpinnings. Here are the basic stages of building a Life Team:
- Cast vision for a gospel-driven Life Team and church to pastor and church leadership
- Ensure vision is understood and embraced by pastor and church leadership
- Discuss need for a Life Team Leader and review his/her job description
- Pray, look for, and invite potential Life Team Leader(s) to get trained in CFL's Life Team Leader Training
- Train and certify potential Life Team Leader and Apprentice Leader in CFL's Life Team Leader Training
- Cast vision for Life Team more widely in the church, aiming for the Spirit's indication of likely Team members
- Pray, look for, and invite potential Life Team members to get trained in CFL's Life Team 101
- Train and certify potential Life Team Members in CFL's Life Team 101
- Call first formational meeting
- Form as a Team
- Sit at God's feet to discover His plans for your particular Team in your particular church in your particular community
- Communicate Team's findings on time with God to church oversight and seek input and blessing
- Begin equipping initiatives as gospel-driven champions of life
